Welcome

The SCA group at Southampton University Students’ Union provides students with a variety of volunteering experiences that complement their academic lives and better prepares them for life. Through involvement with the community, both students and the community benefit.

welcomeWe are one of a network of SCA groups all over the country, which belong to the Student Volunteering Network. This consists of over 125 Universities, with over 15,000 volunteers, who aim to 'empower and enable students to initiate, plan and manage their own volunteering projects. We also encourage students to work with organisations within their communities’. We aim to encourage students by providing opportunities, training, resources, and support.

The projects are organised in a number of ways

Student led - Students set up and run projects, based on their interests, skills and opportunities
Placement - SCA places student volunteers in projects already run by another organisation
Partnership - SCA works in partnership with other agencies to run projects
One off Projects - Volunteers organise, or participate in events such as Christmas parties, garden projects etc.
